How long have you been in business?
JB Systems was started in 2001. Since then, we have moved into a professional office setting on the Chippewa River in Eau Claire. We have built over 90 websites and have a client base of over 110.

What makes JB Systems different from other companies?
JB Systems is different in several ways. First of all, we are a young company - most of our employees have recently just graduated from college. The staff members at JB Systems have mastered some of the newest techniques and approaches to website design offered today. JB Systems also uses the newest versions of software by Adobe and Macromedia, including Dreamweaver and Photoshop, as well as Illustrator and Flash.

Another feature of JB Systems we like to talk about is our commitment to learning and continually setting the standard for website design, programming, and search engine marketing. It is policy at JB Systems to learn - each week employees must submit a short report about something new that they learned and what project they applied it to. Our continued dedication to learning and becoming the best at what we do truly sets us apart from competitors.

How much does a website cost?
This is the most common question asked and is the most difficult to answer. The cost of a website varies and typically depends on how involved the website is - usually it depends on how many pages or features it has, and whether or not database programming will be required. The average website typically costs between $2,500.00 - $5,000.00 - although websites have been built for as little as $1,200.00 and as much as $30,000.00.

How long does it take to build a custom website?
Most websites take anywhere between 60 to 90 days to complete. It really varies depending on the size and type of website we are designing for you. A basic, informational website that doesn't consist of any advanced programming or web applications is easily completed in a few months time. Other factors that are considered in the time frame have to deal with how fast images and content are delivered from the client. To help that process we include in most proposals the use of our content writer to help with all the writing! We budget our time well to complete your project on of before the completion date.

What do most websites consist of?
Our most common websites consist of a home page, a contact page (which would include a map, contact information, as well as a form for people to fill out), and several product or services pages - depending on how many are required for your project. Many of our website are now including a project or product gallery to feature their work. A basic website normally consists of around 3-5 pages including the home page.

What about support? Are you guys going to be here when we need help?
At JB Systems you get top-notch customer support. When you call JB Systems, a person will always answer the phone! You won't get an automated message or phone system - but a real person every time - and half the time it's the owner himself. JB Systems has been complimented several times by clients who appreciate the owner picking up the phone and always willing to talk to someone.

There are no plans of ever leaving the Eau Claire area. As long as the Chippewa Valley can support JB Systems, we will always stay here.

What is Flash? Do you build Flash websites?
Flash is program used to create "Flash" or "SWF" files that allow website visitors to view a multimedia presentation about your company, products or services you provide. Full-motion video, sound, animation, and database interaction can be incorporated into a Flash presentation. We recommend using a limited amount of Flash on a website because not everyone has the Flash plugin installed, and therefore they have to sit through a download of 3rd party software just to visit your website. Also, Flash files can be rather large in size and can take quite a while to download for some views - which some find agitating.

A good use of Flash would be a housing development that wanted a warm & fuzzy presentation put together about the development, building your new home and so forth that would be shipped out on a CD. The presentational CD could have the flash player already on the disk so no downloading is required. Not even an Internet connection would be required.

We do not build flash websites. We can create a flash presentation for you, banner movie, and use flash to code videos for your website. We don't recommend a complete flash website because it is not always user friendly and search engines can have a difficult time "seeing" your content.

Can I update my own website?
With the use of our user friendly content management system you can have the ability to update certain areas of your website. We find most clients don't need to update or want to update their whole site, they just have certain areas on their site they want to update. Through the use of admin area on your website you could have the ability to update content, add/edit/remove photos from a gallery, change testimonials or FAQs, and manage your e-commerce store. These are just a few examples of what you could update on your website.

What is a database-driven website?
Some websites are static - the information on the page is the same and performs no function. Others, such as Amazon.com or your personal banking website, are dynamic - they show different things to different people, collect information from users, and other functions. A database-driven website allows the web page to change based either on what the user asks for, what the user inputs, or what the administrator uploads. Think of it like custom-designed software that saves collected data to a special, secured hard drive. With a database-driven website, you can have your customers log in, collect their account information, make a transaction, track a package, etc. If your website needs to do more than simply inform, if it needs to perform a function and receive and process data, you likely need a database-driven website.

What is SEO or Search Engine Optimization?
Sure, someone who knows your web address can just type it in and get to your site, but the vast majority of potential customers won't do that. They'll use a search engine like Google or Yahoo and type in what they're looking for. If your website hasn't been set up to be found easily by these search engines, you'll likely end up being at the back end of a 100,000+ search result. In other words, the people interested in your product won't find you. JB Systems knows how to make websites turn up at the front end of those results. This involves special tailoring of content, meta tags, alt tags, and many other techniques that have landed many of our clients into first page, top four search results.

How many web design concepts will I see?
We create anywhere from 1 to 3 different design concepts for you to choose from. The number is usually determined based on your budget and is decided upon at the time the proposal is written. Most of our clients choose between 2-3 different designs. We have never been requested to design more than 3, but are willing to do as many different variations as the client wishes.

Can I see my website in progress?
Once your custom-designed website has been broken up into an XHTML and CSS shell, we send you the information for our test server. Our test server is where you can watch the progress of your website unfold into a live and working marketing tool! We greatly encourage our clients to watch the site progress, especially if you have a content management system. We like to have our clients get in and play with their content management tool before the site goes live so they are familiar with it.

Will I own my website once it's done and paid for?
Yes, you will own your website once it's completed and paid for as stated in our contract. There are no monthly "lease payments" that contractually obligate you to a multi-year term, and then give you the option to buy your website at the end. You will own your site!

We can take care of all your hosting needs! You are not required to host with us, but we highly suggest it because of our dedicated service!

How do I get a domain name for my website?
We can buy your domain name for you. We will actually work with you to create the best option for your website domain name. We'll purchase your domain name for you, and in your name, so YOU OWN IT! Domain names are only $15/ year.

Of course we can. We can do pretty much anything to your existing site! If you want us to host it, we will. Do you want some updates done? We can do that as well.
